Tour itinerary: Strunjan
Strunjan is a town on the Adriatic coast, it looks like a small museum. This peninsula on the Slovenian coast has been inhabited since ancient times. This is evidenced by numerous archaeological findings. But as a settlement, Strunjan was first mentioned in archival sources only in the 11th century. The settlement received its name, Strugnano (lat. Stronnianum), presumably by the name of the owner of these lands, a certain Mr. Stronius (4-5 centuries AD). Thanks to the extraction of sea salt, the settlement developed rapidly and by the 15th century the salt ponds of Strunjan have become the most important salt basins of the entire Venetian Republic. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Strunjan began to develop as a tourist region: villas and boarding houses for vacationers began to be built on the peninsula.
The tour is walking, no additional expenses are foreseen. Comfortable shoes are desirable. The tour can be done for more people.
