Description of the tour

Tour itinerary: Kathmandu → Thimphu → Kathmandu

The opportunity to witness the variety of colorful and energetic festivals observed around the nation is provided by the Bhutan Festival Tours. Witnessing the authentic Bhutanese culture is possible, and the trip may undoubtedly be a delightful one filled with joy and pleasure. Attending the annual Thimphu Festival is perhaps the greatest way to fully experience Bhutan's rich cultural heritage, and this 8-day journey makes it feasible to do so. When you arrive in Paro, you travel to Haa Valley to start the Thimphu Festival trip. Drive to Thimphu to see the captivating celebrations held in honor of Guru Rinpoche at the Tashichho Dzong after taking in the natural beauty of the area. The Thimphu Tshechu changed in the 1950s, when the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, introduced numerous Boed chhams (mask dances performed by lay monks). These additions added color and variation to the festival without compromising its spiritual significance. Mask dances like the Guru Tshengye (Eight Manifestations of Guru), and Shaw Shachi (Dance of the Stags) are enjoyed because they are similar to stage-theater. The Atsaras, who are more than just clowns, are equally significant. The dupthobs, or Acharyas, who offer protection are the Atsaras. It is said that the Atsaras' dances and jesting may draw evil spirits in and keep them from harming anybody during Tshechus. To promote social consciousness and health, modern Atsaras often put on little skits. The Tshechu is also viewed by farmers as a vacation from farming. It's a time to rejoice, express gratitude, and offer prayers for good health and happiness.
